General InformationKimberley School lies close to the town centre of Kimberley near Nottingham. Following a successful application to the 'Specialist Schools and Colleges Trust', Kimberley School became a Specialist Technology College from September 2006. Under the Government’s ‘New Deal for Schools’ initiative, a new Design/Technology block was opened in 2002. The new block contains eleven specialist rooms for Design/Technology (food, electronics, graphics, textiles, photography and workshops) and a large Learning Resource Centre (LRC). The LRC contains ICT facilities and a private study area for the Sixth Form as well as housing library resources. The Science laboratories have been re-furbished providing ten modern laboratories. There are 6 networked ICT suites and specialist areas for Drama, Art and Music, a gymnasium and large playing fields. A further new block, with 4 Art rooms, a Drama studio and Media Studies room opened in January 2005. The school now has specialist accommodation for around 1500 students (9 form entry). The school now also boasts a full size synthetic hockey pitch for all year round use. Around 1320 pupils attend the school with 155 following Sixth Form courses, including 20+ subjects at G.C.E. AS/A2 level (including Advanced Vocational Qualifications). The school has developed strongly over the last few years and attracts a significant number of pupils from outside its traditional area. Levels of achievement are good and improving and the school prides itself on aiming to meet the needs of all children. The parent/teacher association at the school is known as The Kimberley School Association. The group meets regularly and organises educational, social and fund raising events.
