SCHOOL GOVERNING BODY
Upcoming Governor Meeting Dates
The Governing Body is responsible for most aspects of policy regarding the school. Governors meet on a regular basis, either as a full group or in one of four sub-committees (Discipline, Finance and General Purposes; Personnel and Pupils; Curriculum). The twenty members include six Parent Governors, elected by parents/carers at the school.
An Annual Report is issued to parents/carers early in the Autumn Term prior to the Annual Meeting for Parents. Parents/carers are encouraged to attend this important meeting.
THE KIMBERLEY SCHOOL PTA
Upcoming PTA Meeting Dates
PTA Information Flier
The Kimberley School Association is a PTA that supports the school in many ways. The PTA meet once every half-term in the Nelson Railway at 7pm. In addition to raising large sums of money to assist with school projects, the association organises educational and social events. All parents/carers are welcome at any meeting or event organised by the association.
The PTA has continued to work tirelessly for the school with a small group of supportive parents and Wendy Taylor from the staff. The recent addition of Sharon Smith SLT has been a most welcome involvement.
Funds raised over time, have enabled the PTA to purchase for the school, a programmable lighting board for use in the Hall, for all performances and functions requiring the lighting of the stage.
Currently the PTA is inviting bids from staff to enhance the experience of education in all areas. Bids will be discussed and decisions made at the next meeting.
The PTA have supported the school in providing refreshments at all concerts, open evenings and the Year 11 Presentation of Certificates.
KIMBERLEY FAMILY OF SCHOOLS
The ten schools in the Kimberley Family arrange a number of activities and meetings for staff to ensure continuity between phases.
CHARITY FUND-RAISING
The school organises a number of fund raising events for both local, national and international charities. We have a developing link with a school in Burkina-Faso, West Africa and recent fund-raising has been directed towards supporting this school. Over £25,000 has been raised in school during ‘Comic Relief’ days.
LETTINGS ARRANGEMENTS
The school is used during the evenings and at weekends by a number of organisations for educational, sporting or recreational activities.
It is possible to hire rooms/facilities in school. Please contact the school for further details.
SCHOOL FUND
In addition to the public funds used to finance the school, we also run a not-for-profit charify known as the 'Kimberley School Fund'. Trustees of the School Fund are responsble for fundraising. Also, many school trips are run though the School Fund, such as the recent successful trips abroad to Germany and Spain. Accounts for the fund are examined annually.
The fund is controlled by a committee of trustees drawn from staff, students and parental representatives. Money raised is used to directly benefit students in the school. Donations to this fund are welcomed.
