Non-Fiction Unit – in this unit pupils will be analysing several non-fiction texts. For example, leaflets and webpages. We look at how the writing in these texts match different purposes – e.g. persuade / advise / inform, and we look at the way these texts are presented. | Look at different non-fiction texts you have around the house: newspapers, leaflets, non-fiction books. See if your child can spot the purpose of the text. Discuss the ways the makers of the text use presentational features (e.g. bold font, pictures, colour etc) to appeal to the audience. |
Design a leaflet informing families of a new theme park opening in Nottingham. Write two paragraphs of advice for pupils in Year 6 about to start secondary school.
